World Population

The most recent United Nations estimates, the human population of the world is expected to reach 8 billion people in the spring of 2024. According to the World Meteorological Organisation water use has raised six fold since 1900, more than double the rate of population growth. With the world’s population projected to top 8 billion by 2024 from7,329,981,036  now, freshwater supplies will not be able to keep pace with rate of growth in population. Even conservative estimates indicate that the population of Pakistan will grow to 208 million by the year 2024. About 50 per cent of the population will be living in the urban areas thus exerting additional pressure on the already strained existing facilities.
